The Arc of Alachua County, Inc. is proud to announce that it has developed a portfolio outlining a variety of Planned Giving options for donors, family members and friends. Planned Gifts, as opposed to annual gifts, memberships or donations to capital campaigns, are typically gifts larger in size or greater in value.

These Planned Gifts can take the form of cash bequests, property, stocks & bonds, or interest income generated from trusts. Generally speaking, Planned Givers are characterized by two fundamental desires: first, to leave a legacy in the form of a substantial gift or donation to an organization for which one cares or one about which they are passionate, and, second, to gain certain tax advantages while still realizing income for themselves or their loved ones.

The most common form of Planned Gift, and the one that The Arc has benefitted from in the past, is a bequest. Upon a person’s passing, he or she can leave a certain percentage of their estate or a specific amount of cash from their estate to The Arc. Bequests represent nearly 80% of all planned giving in this country. More importantly, bequests can be structured in such a way that the donor can, upon his or her passing, secure some type of legacy in his/her name or that of a cherished loved one.

Representatives of The Arc of Alachua County’s Development Department would be happy to sit down with you and your estate planner to discuss how best to structure a Planned Gift that would be mutually beneficial to your estate and to The Arc.

Click on the Arc Planned Giving Portfolio if you, your estate and your estate planner are interested in making a Planned Gift of any kind to The Arc. Feel free to contact a representative of The Arc’s development Department for more details at 352-334-4060 ext. 127.
